Title of workshop: A Red to Dye for: holiday scarf. Time: Saturday, December 9th, 11am-2:00pm, includes half hour break for lunch (bring your own). Cost: $95 ( all material included: silk scarf, dye, etc.) Let’s celebrate this holiday season by creating a unique silk scarf using traditional shibori resist, and the very precious ancient Pre-columbian dye, cochineal. Sarah Winston will teach you how to create a motif onto the fabric using simple resist techniques and how to coax scarlet red out of cochineal bugs. We’ll cover also how to prepare and mordant your fabric, an important step, prior to using natural dyes. You can register on the VillageArtsandEducation.com website or email vaefdirectoreducation@gmail.com to reserve your spot for the class. |
